Wasting Time

Just finish the comment box. I think I have wasted enough time on this blogs thing. "haloscan" seems to be very unreliable. It was down yesterday and down today. Switched to ASP - something completely new to me. It turned out to be relatively simple to intall and the ASP host recomended by Martijn seems to be working alright.

Simply MAGIC! Today is Kitty's first day back to school. This is her Junior Cert year - a public examination administrated with the sole purpose of pre-determining a 14-15 year old kid's future. Trudy is apparantly very concerned; she went straight to the bookstore after work buying all these past exam papers. She wanted Kitty to start doing these past papers and focus her study on them. I shooked my head and said the examination was not that important. She immdiately went into a fit. The conversation stopped.

Not one of us can avoid these open examinations. It is cruel enough to test an 18 years' old, within a time span of not more than a fortnight, how much he hasn't learned in his past 12-13 years and using its result to decide if this 18 years' old has the potential to become a scientist or a carpenter and dictates where he should go from this point onward in life. Mercy. Lets not do this to a 14 years old kid.

Education is too big a subject for me. All I want for my kids is not to have the slighest misconception that these examinations are all their going to school is about.
